# Experiments

Guided recordings that take xBud from a working bench setup to a real result. Each assumes the kit is already running, so complete [Get started with xBud](/xbud/technical-guide.md) first.

Work through them in order. The first establishes the recording routine the others reuse.

| Experiment | Signal | What it demonstrates |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| [Record eyes-closed alpha](/xbud/experiments/eyes-closed-alpha.md) | EEG | The occipital alpha rhythm and its suppression by opening the eyes |
| [Record a flicker SSVEP](/xbud/experiments/flicker-ssvep.md) | EEG | A driven response that follows the stimulus frequency |
| [Record surface EMG](/xbud/experiments/surface-emg.md) | EMG | Muscle activity scaling with contraction force |
| [Measure CMRR](/xbud/experiments/measure-cmrr.md) | Bench | How well the amplifier rejects mains interference, and why electrode balance matters |

Alpha and SSVEP share the occipital montage, so run them in the same session if you have the time. Surface EMG uses the armband instead. CMRR involves no subject at all: it is a bench measurement with a signal generator, and it explains the artefacts the other three run into.
