# Layouts and Plot Types

## Chart types

BXI Studio supports multiple visualization plot types:

| Type        | Description                              |
| ----------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| Real-Time   | Scrolling time-series waveform (default) |
| FFT         | Frequency spectrum analysis              |
| Bandpower   | Power in standard EEG frequency bands    |
| Spectrogram | Time-frequency heatmap                   |

## Layout options

Click the **layout icon** in the top right to change the viewport arrangement:

* **1 plot**: single full-width chart
* **2 plots**: side by side
* **3–8 plots**: grid arrangements

Each viewport can display a different chart type or channel selection. Recent layouts are saved for quick access.

## Switching Sources in Viewports

If you have multiple devices connected to BXI studio, alongside picking plot types, you can also select the source fromw which the viewport is plotting the chart.

> **Note:** Layout and source changes are locked during recording to prevent accidental viewport disruption.
